Apple butter is produced by long, slow cooking of apples where the sugar in the apples caramelizes, turning the apple butter a deep brown. Apple butter has long been a favorite treat in our family (especially when we eat at the Cracker Barrel!) and we wanted to replicate the delicious sweet apples and spices for candle and soap making.
